UCL Thesis work 2021-23
Dr Patrick Lynch has been teaching at the Bartlett UCL for the past 3 years, supervising MA Landscape Thesis work. Students' Masters research has focussed on the communicative significance of landscapes and buildings, and in part reflect his own scholarship and work as an architect concerning Baroque gardens and festivals, and the ethics and poetics of public spaces and artworks. In particular, students have been been looking into the continuing relevance and significance of pilgrimage as a tacit dimension of modern life, and the vexed question of the heritage status of ex-industrial sites in relation to the legacy and cultural meaning of environmental damage, and ways in which these artefacts might be seen as "ecofacts".
