Nova SW1

This complex of three buildings forms the final part of the Nova master plan on Victoria Street, London SW1, for LandSec. The design comprises a new public library for Westminster City Council, and a variety of different types of workspace housed in three quite different buildings. Nova East, a steel-framed mid-rise office block, gained planning consent in 2016. Nova Place, an L-Shaped figure housing the new library, acts as the edge of a city block: comprising The Victoria Palace Theatre; its new flytower; the neighbouring Duke of York Public House; Sutton House (a Grade II Listed 1930s Pawn Brokers that will be reconstructed); and a 4 story ventilation shaft serving the Victoria Line tube station beneath our site. The 2018 proposals represent the final iteration of a series of designs undertaken by Lynch Architects for this site since 2007, and will supersede the planning consents gained in 2009, 2012 and 2016. An East-West pedestrian route runs from Belgravia to Cardinal Place, with a series of new public spaces designed in collaboration with muf architecture/art. The revised proposals gained planning consent in July 2019; construction is due to start towards the end of 2018.
