Bike Shed

This small timber structure shelters 4 bikes at the end of a garden in Hackney. The perspex roof acts as a thin, transparent, plastic beam, removing the need for any structure at the front of the shed. It is somewhere between a temple and a gazebo, collapsing Nikolaus Pevsner's distinction between a cathedral and a bike shed. In Pevsner's view, a bike shed was neither a monument nor architecture; in our view, done right, it is both.
